China/All the way to New York

Here's what I have eaten so far of the assortment of Chinese candies Jim and Martha brought back with them. I thought I missed my chance to eat them, but some made it to our apartment after their stopover in Pittsburgh.

• Cylindrical packaging with smiling ear of corn = large, sweet, somewhat fish-flavored, hollow Cheeto-looking stick. Disgusting.
  
• Trapezoid-shaped "East Dignity" candy with pineapple print on wrapper = pineapple-flavored chocolate. Decent.
• Light-green small rectangle with leaves, labeled "Tenfu Mini Pie" = layers of pumpkin seed brittle with only a light bitterness. Not bad.
• Metallic green package, marked "Jofukuki" and "Hsu Fu Chu." with thumbsucking, cross-eyed dog depiction = fruity red, gold and green (one of each) gummy bears that taste like lollypops. Not Haribo, but yum.

Poetry Tuesday: Dan went to a fancy art party and all I got was this lousy herbal water.

You, the coatless, who are going home when the sun sets,
Drink this. Drink this in your
Cold home, surrounded by your
Reheated macaronis and consolation lipsticks. Sniff
And you may clean your fixtures with the smell.
Astringent hydration; there's frowning inside.
Vanilla and lemongrass fight over you,
So you must not be lonely. But you are
Lonely. As mint has deserted you all.
Oh. The situation's muddied.
There is something in your water.
It is meant to be there but it should not be there.

Your tongue is angry at you now.
The two of you are going to argue.

Double your monkeys; double your glum.

Chewing this gum was a taste experience. Here's what I experienced: banana....fake banana...okay...um...banana flavored dirt....dirt...plastic bananas...plastic...plastic dirt...gross. And then I spit it out. And then I threw the rest of the gum away.

In short: Double Monkey gum is gross.
