Air France Nibbles

Out In

Dan brought some of his in-flight snacks home after a recent trip through Paris (destination: Beirut) on Air France.  I tried them.  I liked them!

My favorite of the two was Traou Mad de Pont-Aven Mini-Gaufres -- waffled rounds with a "paprika/spice mix flavor." They're just barely spicy, with a rich, complex taste.

Traou Mad de Pont-Aven Apericrepes are small bits flavored with comte cheese and walnut. They were almost sweet in an intriguing way.

Both are savory, crispy, and altogether appealing.  I'd happily eat more than my fair share of either one.

Hoppy Days

Bunnies

According to the package, Bunny Crisps are "chocolaty," not "chocolate."  Hmmm...

Somebunny over here (oh, that's me!) thought they tasted close enough.

Thanks, Rusty!

Pavlova Conditioning

Pavlova

Thinking about mini Pavlova makes my mouth water.

These meringue-type beauties are crispy on the outside and melty when you bite into them (and they do not hold up when exposed to the rain, I learned at an outdoor event last summer). They do freeze well, though, and are not as fragile as they might look. Sunday night we defrosted the last nine of them for the four of us, whipped some cream with a little sugar to go on top, and piled on blueberries and slices of kiwi. A sprinkle of powdered sugar would have been pretty, but I left my shaker at home.

I was greedy and had three.

What I Ate at the Giglio Festival: Vol. 3

The best snack I ate at the festival was actually scouted by Dan and Matt.

Salsa and fresh plantain chips

These are fresh plantain chips served with salsa (medium cup only $2). The chips were made on the spot, shaved into a giant vat of oil. They came out wafer thin, crispy, not at all greasy and still warm. The salsa was mild but a good accompaniment. The festival lasts another week or so. If I go back it won't be for the dancing of the structure. It will be for more of these.

Dipping

It figures that the booth with the least flash and signage would be the one with the best treat.

Less flash
