The Mysterious Case of the Appearing Chocolates.

Espresso

Appearing Chocolates

A mysterious bag of Mieszko chocolates appeared at work. My only clue? The second language on the wrappers appeared to be Polish.

How they disappeared, however, is no mystery, I took care of three of them myself.

I made the mistake of biting the espresso chocolate in half, only to find that it had a very liquid espresso liqueur center (which promptly spilled down my front). But the flavor was as advertised -- chocolate and espresso is not a bad combination. And I, wily snacker that I am, was eating my coffee chocolates in my bathrobe, as befits a lazy Saturday morning, so no clothes were stained past repair.

I was less fond of the Coffee and Cream chocolate. The filling was creamier but the flavor muddy. Toffino smelled more promising, but was sickly sweet and had a stringent, nail polish flavor that made me cough and choke. Bleah.

I never thought I'd say this, but, "More espresso, please."

Curiously Polish

I should say this is not really curiously Polish. But it is both Polish and curious. Nick brought in Krówki Milanowskie Chocolate Cream Fudges yesterday. The one I tried gave way easily under the teeth, almost crumbling, but maintained a thick richness despite its wimpy texture. The flavor's personality wavered between accidentally off-putting and unknowingly inviting.

I don't think one person could go through a bag of these, but the novelty makes them intriguing to share.

eXXtremeLy Messy

Princely

So, is this a Prince Polo XXL bar, or an XXL-sized Prince Polo bar? Whichever, it's clearly a hazelnut and chocolate wafer bar (didn't I say everything seems hazelnut-flavored lately?). No lie on the packaging as far as that goes.

Enrobed

Wafery

The Prince Polo goes a bit further than a typical flavored wafer bar. One side has been covered in chocolate (the other side remains bare-wafered. Crispier than Neapolitaner wafers, the chocolate-enrobed side makes the Prince Polo also tastier and more messy in 80-degree (fahrenheit) weather than other wafer products I've tried (well, not tastier than a Little Debbie Nutty Bar, which remains my current favorite).

Made in Poland! But found in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (not the more Polish Greenpoint).
