Dreaming of better days...

SR BBQ 1

It's been seasonably chilly (it is March, after all) in NYC this week, and today is sunny but cold. I'm focusing on the gorgeous weather we had last weekend, and all the delicious food I had at Steve's classy BBQ party. My favorite items on the buffet were a moist shrimp with rice dish and an incredible peanut butter cookie.

I'd forgotten about this guy.

Grilled pb+h

I suddenly recalled a childhood staple I hadn't eaten in years -- the grilled peanut butter and honey sandwich. Oh, how I loved them.

So I made one after work on Friday, as a nod to "after school snacks" of yore.

It's just as good as I remembered, even with more "grown up" whole wheat bread and raw honey. I want another and another and another...

We joined the club.

Weber Turkey

I have never hosted a big holiday meal, and have certainly never been in charge of the turkey for Thanksgiving (it's actually a dish I wouldn't miss, were it to disappear from the holiday's celebration), but I understand that some people are quite passionate about the bird at the center of many American tables on a certain Thursday in late November.

"Cook your turkey on a Weber Grill!" certain Grill-The-Turkey cult members proclaim. This year, we did.

The end result was tasty enough, and the preparation seemed to be low-fuss from where I was sitting.

What's your favorite method of whole turkey prep?
